Two important elements in the time value of money are related to the future and present value.
We already know that money has a time value and when we consider a specific amount today, due to compounding interest its value in the future, hence future value, will be larger.
The same happens when I consider cash flows in the future where cash is generated or save as a result of an investment or project. We want to know what the value of these cash flows is in today’s terms or what is their present value.
