Activity Crashing – Part 2

When we determine the duration of the project using the critical path method, we determine the duration estimate of the project. In some cases, we may find out that the duration is too long for the sponsor or our client and we have to reduce the duration using a duration reduction method like activity crashing.
In the first part, I explained some basic principles about crashing and how to calculate the crash cost per period.
In this second part, I will actually crash the project in successive steps until the shortest possible duration is obtained.
In Part 3, I will present the crash cost as a function of the project duration and discuss some possible applications of crashing.
